REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDARLAMPUNG -- The Trans Sumatra toll road segment of Bakauheni-Kotabaru in Lampung Province is ready for use, starting December 22, 2018. Lampung Transportation Office Head Qodratul Ikhwan confirmed during a telephonic conversation here on Monday.
"Only the Bakauheni-Kotabaru toll road segment will be operational on Dec 22, but several points for the Kotabaru-Terbangi Besar segment must be completed," Ikhwan remarked.
He explained that as a precautionary measure against a surge in vehicles on the Soekarno-Hatta Trans Sumatra road to Bakauheni Port, the Bakauheni-Kotabaru toll road segment can be used from Dec 22. However, he called on toll road users along the Bakauheni-Kotabaru toll road segment to remain more vigilant and careful while passing through, as a shortcoming in the form of inadequate street lighting still exists.
Ikhwan admitted to not being aware of the exact toll tariffs that were applicable, but it was estimated that they were still free or unpaid.
"It looks like it is still free to welcome Christmas 2018 and the New Year 2019," he added.
