REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) denies issues which spreaded during campaign period. Some of the issues are to ban azan (prayer call), abolish religious education, and even legalize same-sex marriage.
He stressed the issues are impossible because Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world. Indonesia has a lot of norms, such as religious, morality, and manners.
Therefore, Jokowi asserted whoever elected president, he believed, those issues will not be real. He said there is no leader who dares to legalize that kind of actions.
“Indonesia as a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, also have religious norms, moral norms, and manners, so whoever becomes a president is impossible to legalize it,” Jokowi said on Friday.
Jokowi asked people not to make issues that will disturb others. People should also to think rationally when they hear an issue.
According to Jokowi, many issues and slanders will often to circulate during this political year. Therefore, he remind people to be careful over the circulate issues and should not easily to believe.
“Let’s use our rational think because hoax (fake news) and slanderous news are spreaded in social medias,” Jokowi added.
